Home > Sock Story Eco-Friendly: Recycled Cotton |

Spunk, color and a conscious! There are so many reasons to love our mismatched socks. For one, we are incredibly proud to be an American-made product: our yarns are spun and our socks are knit at small, family-owned businesses here in the US. Also, from the very start, our cotton socks have always been knit using recycled cotton yarns.
Crafted with care in the USA from recycled cotton. Our yarns are created by recovering the scraps from the production of other cotton products, mainly t-shirts. All of the little cotton scraps are gathered together and ground up so that they can be re-spun into "new" yarn. The yarns are then knit into our colorful socks. Yarns are 80% cotton, 19% nylon and 1% lycra added for durability and stretch.
By sourcing our cotton yarns from recycled materials we are creating an environmentally responsible cotton product by reducing the amount of virgin cotton that needs to be grown (and the toll that takes on the earth) and at the same time we are helping to reduce landfill waste.
Our recycled yarns are certified by Made in Green (www.madeingreen.com) and Oeko-Tex (www.oekotex.com). This means that the materials we use are certified to be free from harmful substances (i.e. toxins like formaldehyde), made with respect for the environment and with respect for human rights.
